Project Statement

In this project, I have layered two photographs together. Cutting out the portal in the top image to reveal another world. My goal is to encourage you to take a closer look at the world around you. I hope you will be surprised and delighted by what you notice.
In all my work I seek to be totally present in the moment so that I can find peace and joy. This project is no different. I had to move slowly through the woods to spot these, often tiny, knot holes. I had to stay present. If I became distracted I might miss something wonderful.
During my time exploring wild places to create my photographs, I am always amazed at how much more there is to see, and the closer I look the more I notice. As the quote above says, “behind all seen things lies something vaster”. I hope you find the vaster.
